Overseeding and Aeration
Healthy, Green, Lush Lawns
Overseeding and aeration are important for keeping your lawn healthy. Together they breathe new life into the soil by allowing air, water, and nutrients to reach the roots and introduce new grass seed varieties to fill patches and enhance the overall density of the lawn. We recommend aerating and overseeding in the early fall, springtime works well too, but you need to change your fertilization plan.
Overseeding
Overseeding is the practice of spreading new grass seed over the whole lawn, especially patches. We introduce grass seeds that are resistant to drought and disease to produce luscious lawns. We recommend overseeding on prepared lawns. Lawns that are aerated are better prepared to receive the seeds and produce healthy, widespread growth. Our team will teach you how to care for your newly overseeded lawn properly so that the roots can grow deep into the ground. While we recommend overseeding once a year, you can overseed twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
Aeration
Aeration should be performed once a year to once every 2-3 years. If you have high-trafficked areas or if you have heavy clay components in your soil (a soil test will tell us this) then you will want to aerate annually. If you spend the majority of your outdoor time on your patio or in your pool, you can aerate every 2-3 years without issue. If you are wondering how often you should have your lawn aerated, let’s schedule a soil test and we’ll be able to make a recommendation from there.
